• To celebrate the status of Tamil achieving ‘classical language’
• To focus on the literary, moral, spiritual, social and political achievements of Tamil people
• To inculcate spiritual, ethical, moral   environmental and social values in all facets of study and the development of classical Tamil language and literature
• To provide opportunities for all round development of the students and excellence in higher education in Tamil
• To enable students of   disadvantaged  sections to become great Tamil scholars
• To disseminate the findings of ancient Tamil Culture not only to the Tamil community but also to the global community
• To enable the Tamil scholars to compare Tamil culture with cultures  in India and abroad
